Proverbs 17:18 It’s poor judgment to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for a friend.

The bible gives us practical tools for living. Don’t co-sign for anyone or guarantee someone else’s debt. It may seem like a inconsequential thing when you have a trusted friend who needs you, or a struggling family member, but it’s not. It’s poor judgement, and will lead you into trouble. If you have the money to give someone pray about it first and if you have peace give it. Proverbs 28:27 Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.1 John 3:17-18. Giving, and blessing, and helping someone is different then vouching for their finances and morals. Be a giver, be a blessing but don’t put your name, your reputation or your credit on the line for another.
