Proverbs 16:32 Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.

In our own minds power and authority may be an invaluable asset. In God’s view however, patience and self control are far more valuable. Long suffering or patience is part of the fruit of the spirit. In this microwave generation we’ve become accustomed to having everything immediately. If our internet pages load in 4 seconds rather than one second we’re angry. If we have to wait in traffic or grocery store lines we’re angry. We need to ask ourselves throughout the day, what’s the worst thing that will happen if I’m late, if I’m stuck in traffic, or if I have to wait 15 extra minutes in line? I think life will go on. I believe you’ll be ok. Usually having every minute booked and organized is just our own insecurities pushing us to maintain control. Most deadlines are self made. So, let’s forget the deadlines, lower our blood pressures and chill more. Let’s relax and develop more patience and self control as we emulate Jesus.
